Pole, Pedal, Paddle...It's not a triathlon but....

Regular  83  Bend, Or |  Subject: Pole, Pedal, Paddle...It's not a triathlon but....it's a huge race for our town, and I just signed up. YIKES!! The race consists of.... 1.) Downhill Skiing 2.) 8 km XC Ski 3.) 35 km Cycle 4.) 10 km Run 5.) 2.4 km Paddle (Kayak for me) and finally... 6.) .5 km sprint to the finish. Better get my a$$ in gear! |

Two years ago my family did it as a relay, even my 6-year old son (at that time) ran the final sprint all by himself. It was FUN! I did the xcountry ski portion and teamed up with my husband on the canoe. The XC ski was tough when all the cool skate skiers would pass me, but it was funny how many I caught and even passed on some uphills, especially the final steep uphill to the bike transition. Not to mention the freaky scarey downhill on XC skiis from the transition with the downhill skiers. One to make the spectators have a good time, I'm pretty sure I screamed in horror the whole way down that one. *sigh* That was a good race. You doing it all on your own? I grew up in Sunriver. I really miss that place. I was just thinking about how good a Super Burrito would be right now. |

I figure I'll come in last place as my age group (30-34) is generally filled with uber-athletes, but hey, you gotta start somewhere. If you haven't been to Bend/Sunriver area in a while, you wouldn't recognize it. (EDIT: Duh, you did the race 2 years ago!!!) I think Bend's up to 70K population!
